Green Cleaning

Green CleaningGreen clean is a growing trend these days which involves use of environmental friendly ingredients for cleaning purposes. This involves total restriction of toxic chemicals for cleaning purposes which when used cause numerous dermatological and respiratory problems. The green cleaning philosophy helps preserve human health and environmental quality.

Following are a few very effective clean greening tips:

  • Employ green cleaning products- as the concerns over environment safety is rising, there are many green cleaning products available in the market which are non toxic. But if they aren’t effective one can go for home- based cleaners. Vinegar and baking soda are very effective green cleaning products. A mixture of baking soda or vinegar in some warm water can act as one of the best cleaning agents.
  • Indoor clean green tips – one should always insist to keep their shoes outside the home. This will keep particulate pollutants, animal wastes etc. outside the homes. This will ensure good air quality as well as will require less sweeping job. The air quality inside homes can be kept naturally clean by growing some plants (peace lilies) inside homes as well as fresh chocolate chip cookies can also assist.
  • Dump the toxic cleaners – glass cleaners, all purpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners etc. are said to contain toxic chemicals causing skin, nose and throat irritation, dizziness, eye damage, cough and many disorders. Hence they should be avoided. Grapefruit seed extract, lavender, clove and tea tree oil acts as natural antiseptics and effective fungicides without any harm on human health.
  • Green clean laundry – the laundry detergents used in every household is full of toxic chemicals causing allergic reactions. Many laundry products come in fragrances but it’s said that the real clean need not smell sweet. Hence one should avoid them and make one’s own eco friendly laundry products.

This can be done by mixing some soap flakes with baking and washing soda and some borax. This is an effective harmless product. One can also go for a soap manufactured by a green company.

  • Clean green home design- yes, homes can also be planned in an eco friendly manner. One can start by using eco friendly paints made from recycled paint or from vegetable dyes. These contain few organic volatile compounds. Eco friendly flooring is another appropriate way to go green. These are made from bamboo or cork which are durable, inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Green furniture is also something that can be bought to reduce deforestation and pollution.

Going green is very easy these days, all one needs is a bit commitment and concern for Mother Nature.
